Week beginning 15th June 2020
Dear Primary 2 Pupils, Parents & Carers,
Exciting News Primary 2!
This week we have planned a ‘virtual trip’ for us all to take part in! And it doesn’t matter if it rains, because we don’t have to leave our house! You might need to pack a snack and a lunch though! And hopefully you might have some people (or cuddly toys) in your house that would like to join you?
If possible, we could all try to complete this ‘virtual’ trip on Wednesday 17th June (don’t worry if you can’t take part on that day though, you can complete it at any time!) We are going to be taking part too! We can’t wait! We might even post some pictures of us!
Also, running this week is a new Gilmerton Sumdog Challenge (15th -18th June)! And an Edinburgh Sumdog competition starting on Friday 19th June. Let’s see how many Primary 2 pupils we can get entering!
There’s a wee extra emoji challenge included in our home-learning this week – can you name all of the story books?
We hope that you have a super week! Just 2 more weeks to go until you get a very well-deserved rest!
Kind regards,
Mrs McCallum, Mr Odie and Miss Williamson

Hello again Primary 2! We hope that you and your families are all well and have enjoyed a lovely start to June? Let’s hope that the sunshine returns!

We will also provide you with the final 2 sessions of our Lion King project – we have been loving the work that you have done already on this! Sumdog this week may be slightly different as the team at Sumdog have asked us to trial something for them! And a new Edinburgh contest will be starting on Friday 19th June!
Exciting news – look out for something extra special next week! We are in the process of planning a ‘virtual’ class trip!! Details are to be finalised, but all will be revealed in next week’s home-learning, so look out for it! We think that it will be a lot of fun!
Finally, another huge thank you to you all for remaining so positive and supportive though-out these challenging times. And for everything that you have been doing at home – you have all been amazing! Just 3 more weeks until you get a very well deserved rest!

Finally, do you have any home-learning ideas? Have you been doing anything that you think the rest of the class might enjoy? How about letting us know and we could try to include it in our home-learning in future weeks! Just email your ideas to Admin@Gilmerton.edin.sch.uk and they will forward them on to us!

This week’s learning:
BBC Bitesize lessons this week: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize

Dear Parents & Carers,
The Primary 2 staff team have provided a range of learning opportunities and activities to support your children over the next few weeks.
Our intention is to set weekly spelling, reading and maths challenges using the Sumdog website or App. All of the children have been reissued with their logins (and for those who have been absent, we have arranged for them to be posted out).
Some children have also been issued with their ‘Read Theory’ login so that they can access reading comprehension at home. All children can login to their class EPIC page (using their class code on the document – ‘Primary 2 websites’) where they can access a range of reading material.
We have also provided a Health and Well-Being activity grid and a list of the commonly used websites in class.
We hope that this will support your children during these challenging times. We will miss you all very much! Keep safe and well,
Kind Regards,
Mrs McCallum, Mr Odie and Miss Williamson
